Gen Mobile at a glance

What Gen Mobile does well

  • Paid prepaid plans available on the same network if eligibility lapses
  • Competitive bring-your-own-phone terms
  • Broad footprint across roughly three-quarters of states

What to watch

  • Smaller retail presence than the carrier-owned brands
  • Device catalogue is thinner than AirTalk's

How to apply to Gen Mobile

  1. Confirm you qualify. Gen Mobile cannot enroll you until USAC's National Verifier has approved your household, through a benefit program or on income.
  2. Check it serves your ZIP. Being approved in your state is not the same as covering your address — Gen Mobile is licensed in 39 states but 27,866 ZIP codes, not all of them.
  3. Apply at the National Verifier at lifelinesupport.org, or let Gen Mobile submit it during signup.
  4. Enroll and recertify. Lifeline requires annual recertification, and the benefit stops if you miss it.
