These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of lifelineaccess.com (the “Site”), operated by Lifeline Access. By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. No government affiliation
Lifeline Access is a private website. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the Federal Communications Commission, the Universal Service Administrative Company, any state public utility commission, or any other government agency. We do not administer the Lifeline program, and we cannot verify eligibility or approve benefits — only the National Verifier can do that.
Where we help someone complete an application, we do so as an enrollment representative subject to the FCC’s rules for that role. That is assistance with your application; it is not a decision on it, and it does not make us a government agency.
Official information about the Lifeline program is published by the FCC and USAC. You never have to pay a fee to apply for Lifeline.
2. Informational purposes only
Content on the Site is provided for general informational purposes. It is not legal, financial, or benefits advice, and it is not a substitute for the official program rules or a determination by the National Verifier.
Eligibility rules vary by state and change over time. We make a good-faith effort to keep our guides accurate and current, but we do not warrant that any page is complete, error-free, or up to date at the moment you read it. Verify anything that matters to your application against official sources before acting on it.
3. No guarantee of eligibility or benefits
Nothing on the Site constitutes a promise, offer, or guarantee that you will qualify for the Lifeline program, receive a device, or obtain service from any provider. Eligibility determinations are made solely by the National Verifier and participating providers.
4. How we are paid, and how your information moves
The Site contains affiliate links, and we may be paid a referral fee when you ask us to connect you with a telephone company. See our Affiliate Disclosure for the full picture.
If you ask to be matched with a provider, we pass your information to the companies named to you at the time, and those companies may contact you by call and by text. You choose whether to agree, agreeing is never a condition of any service or benefit, and you can withdraw at any time through Your Privacy Choices. What we collect, what we never collect, and how long we keep it is set out in our Privacy Policy.
5. Third-party sites and providers
The Site links to third-party websites, including government resources and telecommunications providers. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, products, services, or practices. Your dealings with any third party are solely between you and that party.
6. Consent to contact
Where you give consent to be contacted, you confirm that the telephone number you provide is yours or that you are authorised to give consent for it, and that you agree the named companies may call and text you at that number, including using automated dialling systems and prerecorded or artificial voice messages. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to opt out of texts from that sender, or contact us to be suppressed entirely.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site, its servers, or related systems;
- interfere with or disrupt the Site’s operation, including through automated scraping that degrades performance;
- misrepresent yourself as affiliated with Lifeline Access;
- reproduce, republish, or redistribute substantial portions of our content without written permission.
8. Intellectual property
The Site’s content, design, and branding are owned by Lifeline Access or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may view, download, and print pages for personal, non-commercial use, provided you do not remove any proprietary notices.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SITE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LIFELINE ACCESS AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR BENEFITS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SITE — INCLUDING RELIANCE ON ANY INFORMATION PUBLISHED HERE.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so portions of this section may not apply to you.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lifeline Access and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the Site or your violation of these Terms.
12. Changes to the Site and these Terms
We may modify or discontinue any part of the Site at any time. We may also revise these Terms; material changes will be reflected in the effective date and version above. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
